Use to Be

by jason   Feb 27, 2018

Who did I use to be,
words use to flow
through my mind like a gentle breeze

images I was able to see,
yet now it is hard to believe
that any poems were ever written by me

who did I use to be,
to construct such imagery,
to understand the flow of poetry,
feel so many emotions it was hard to breath,

lost in a decade time,
all the thoughts that use to be mine,
all the words that may have been absurd,
yet created feelings that could be heard,

like a river,
many cold,
could make you shiver

who did I use to be,
a person lost in mental debris,
yet that is still me.

Jason, I doubt there's anyone on this site that can't relate to this poem. Sometimes when I read previous stuff I think ... "where on earth did that come from!", but also ... it's often journal-like. I love how you've expressed this familiar feeling here. Great! :-) x

    Jason,

There are joys with reflection, and there are ones that take us through a tough journey. Keep writing as this is a great piece by you, and your emotions.
    Well done

Jason, I really liked this a lot. I look.back on some of my stuff and it brings me to that time, sometimes so vividly are the emotions I have to step back. Well done with this.

I often look back at past poems, Jason, and wonder where it all stemmed from. I suppose without that 'mental debris' we sometimes struggle for inspiration but if this piece here is anything to go by, you don't struggle with that affliction just yet.
Well done - great write that got me thinking.

    All the best,

    Ben

Whatever we are going through mentally or emotionally it does define who we are. You are who you are and I certainly enjoyed reading. All the best
