Slivered Edge

by Beautiful Chaos   Mar 4, 2018

There's a sliver missing tonight
The edge is a burnt orange
Like someone tore the moon
Still it's beautiful to me
To others
Full of dreams
Hopes
Wishes....
And I reflect on myself
My missing pieces
My burnt edges
My shadowy soul that longs for peace
And I remind myself that I am beautiful too

A lot of times in life we all feel like we are missing something. I think a lot of times that missing piece is self love. But i do really like how you wrote this. The metaphors are really spot on for someone who hss gone through a lot in their life, and i have been there so i completely get this.

I interpret the poem as someone who has gone through a lot of darkness in their life. But since they have seen the darkness for so long they see beauty in it.

As this person grows, they reflect on the darkness never knowing how to love themselves, so they are finally realizing they are beautiful too.

I loved the direction this poem took, it almost seemed like a metamorphosis. It reminds me of someone who was depressed for such a long time but something happens and they see the positive side of life now. Great write.
