Letting go of the one you love

by Em (marmite)   Mar 4, 2018

I see beauty in your eyes
even if you're knee deep
in blood sweat and tears

I want to hold you close
but my harrowing past
still controls my mind

so I need to let you go.

I'll never forget you,

never.

I see beauty in your eyes
    even if you're knee deep
    in blood sweat and tears

    ^^

People often do have so much beauty inside when they are knee deep in 'blood sweat and tears'. I say that simply because these are so often the type to feel things so much deeper than anyone else. It is unfortunate, but it is true. The best of us - the most sensitive - are the most emotional and easy to upset. 'I see beauty in your eyes' - but perhaps there is another similar such person who understands them. It takes one to know one and all that. I read on...

I want to hold you close
    but my harrowing past
    still controls my mind

so I need to let you go.

    I'll never forget you,

    never.

    ^^

Sums up what I was saying above. 'but my harrowing past still controls my mind'. You, too, suffer from mental fissures that, again, are so often prevalent among the most vulnerable and sensitive of us. But now what? This person has been fortunate enough to run into someone who knows - who understands and relates - but what happens 'when a tornado meets a volcano' to quote Eminem? Often, only further heartache and misery, for without that moderate influence in a relationship, when one partner can soothe the other, fireworks are the likely outcome - to both party's detriment.
And so, you need to let him go, sadly. Cruel to be kind is often the only way and, after all, you have your own fragility to protect as well.

    Take care, Em
