I once fell in love

by pmmurphy   Mar 10, 2018

me and my heart found her stariwell
its easy falling down a few steps
because thats the easiest way into a coma.
& it never hurt to breathe on granite,
I still joke about this with my blood.
she was the carpet, hiding the fall
didnt know how much it would hurt
but I sure as hell felt the burn
as I drug my heart across her.
its not long in a hallway when you realize
you need the ER, however,
the doctor prescribes you a therapist
because a missing heart left on granite
and blue blood, isn't noteworthy.
this body is numb, because my heart
is left aching on that granite floor.

Well PM, this is fab! The poem reminds me of the title of a book I love called "love and other near death experiences" ... the way you've so vividly described the broken heart is brilliant, and you've made the point about it feeling like a physical injury perfectly. A fantastic write! :-) x

Its raw and vivid! The reader along with the writer
spirals into this scene and feels every inch and pain of
love and love lost, like been pushed from the height
of joy to the depths of sadness...

A painful experience nicely penned...take care

Powerfully graphic and bloody and painful, just like a broken heart feels. Well done on a beautiful yet sad write.
