Too Young To Be A Dove

by flawed diamond   Mar 10, 2018

Like a flash flood
Blink of the eye, flash fire
How could you no longer be here
I want to call death a liar

To early to be released
Too young to be a dove
Too unprepared, too unready
For your spirit to be flying above

Stuck on this
That one word:gone
It's picture is emptiness
Its definition is FINAL etched in stone

Too soon for you to be looking down on us
Or be an angel in the afterlife
You should still be here on Earth
Going to bed at night

Too soon too be in that casket
Going into that ground
Too soon to hear silence
Where there was once sound

Time was too short for everything
You should be down here still to love
In the blink of an eye it can become a goodbye
I'm sorry you're now a dove

Oh Sherree, this is heart rending! That feeling of disbelief at a death is perfectly expressed here ...

Yes! I really get that. Any death is hard, but the untimely death of a young person is just impossible to accept. It's not the natural order of things and is the hardest grief of all. Well done with this and sorry for your loss if this is written from your experience :-) x
