Not Gone Too Soon

by flawed diamond   Mar 18, 2018

When I die
Just say goodbye
Even though I will never again wake
The times I did you should celebrate

Because at the end of the day and into the night
If I've lived my life the way that I liked
And if I have come short of just reaching my moon
Then you can't say i'm gone too soon

To achieve happiness and fulfillment while i'm here
I don't need to live 80 or 90 years
That doesn't guarantee a life fully lived
It comes from what you have already did

Living is not so easy
Most of us just exist
Looking at things just passing us by
Not knowing what we missed

If we put all our energy into pushing forward
Like we do hurting and crying
We'd live like there is no tomorrow
Because in fact, everyday we are dying

Everyday brings us closer
One step to that door
Where we will cease to exist
And we will be no more

If I've taken that chance
Stopped and gave a second glance
If I've truly tried
Then I've accomplished something when I've died

Age does not make death too soon
Not if I've tried or reached my moon
As long as I've created memories in my heart to save
Early shall never be my grave

Sherree this is brilliant! I totally agree with the sentiment here ... we all try so hard to live till we're as old as we can be, but actually, in this country at least, there is a real lack of care available for the ever-growing older communities. I'm not convinced that the final 10 or 15 years of their lives are all that happy due to the lack of money and care available.
This is a great reminder to make the most of our 'good' years! :-) x
