Wicked Web

by Kitty Cat Lady   Mar 23, 2018

Beautiful words woven like a web
Intricately laced about my mind
A trap to ensnare my heart
A gratification for you to find

Promises of love and lust
Dangled for me to follow
Then ruthlessly snatched away
Leaving me nothing but hollow

Feeling like such a fool
For daring to believe it real
I'm really not to be trusted
With a single thing I feel

I hope that when you think of me
You'll know it wasn't me that lied
I'm so sad that it's come to this
But sorry,  it's goodbye.

Unfortunately it is all too often that love does feel like a silken trap. This poem certainly captures the idea of feeling betrayed at the promise of a real relationship.

    Well done!

I just love your opening stanza so much. It's very clever of you to have chosen it to be the first. Very captivating!
