Spring Has Sprung (acrostic challenge by Michael (Mr Darcy))

by Larry Chamberlin   Mar 24, 2018

Seems every tree has decided to attack;
pollen drifts like yellow powder grenades
ready to blow up my sinuses and leave
incendiary raw flesh down my throat;
no prisoners are taken in this annual fight
giving survivors the need to gasp for breath.

How can trees be seen as such peaceful
agents of nature when they are so cruel,
sacrificing us all to their prurient pursuits?

Scorn those who blithely wax poetic while
preening in tree blossoms that grace their hair;
rail against the injustice of torture;
ulcerated wounds from allergy pustules
nauseate me all this season long;
growing pains indeed, their growth my pain.

    In reality, I am not troubled badly by pollen, but I see others who suffer and put myself in their place.
    Andrea, I still love trees!
