Crave

by Phoenix ¥   Apr 8, 2018

We crave
the comfort of love,
The feel of skin on skin
A desperate urge to let you in.

But after the afterglow,
What do we have to show?
A sated appetite,
To get us through another night.

It’s a long time since I have felt the taste of guilt in my mouth,
The gut wrenching feeling of doing something wrong.
I’m so confused....

No longer sure where I belong.

Favorite line "what do we have to show?

To get us through another night "
That's how it feels, like it's never enough. Well written one of my favorites

I felt your guilt. I hear your confusion. There is always a journey to take, if the place we are heading for is worthwhile. Keep at it. Well done.

Thanks for your encouraging message Catherine - so hard to know which path to take when emotions wrap themselves around everything x

The confusion, lust, guilt and possible betrayal of self work well here in this piece. It makes me think what we do for love, if we sacrifice anything for it, what we compromise in order to feel some sort of intimacy or acceptance from others.

You have hit the nail on the head, with a full understanding of my poem. Compromise and sacrifice are a reoccurring theme.
