Some friend you are

by Abongile Mancasa   Apr 16, 2018

One of the most painful things I'm facing in my life is rejection, not because I'm not good enough but because I'm different.
You make me feel like a disease, a sin to be rebuked.
To you I'm those old socks with holes, you are ashamed of me.
When in public or with your friends, you do as best as you can to hide me.
I don't get the same hugs as everyone else or anything at all.
If I do, it's merely crumbs. To you I'm only good enough when no one is observant.
Maybe if you knew that I went to war for your dignity, like sunshine you'd reveal me,
Or maybe if you knew when your friends called you unsightly.
I evaporated the fog from their eyes by pointing out the beautiful things about you that no one ever notices...
