You and Me

by Meena Krish   Apr 18, 2018

My stubbornness
and
your persistence
don’t seem to agree
though there are moments
it creates an unforgettable breeze
which plays until the
night flees,

Your constant preaching
and
my silence
clash upon the walls
I build with fire yet
there are times my guard falls
prey to your embrace
of summer calls,

Your wisdom
and
my seasons
a concoction no one believes
nevertheless we
face every adversary
that wedges between
you and me

Your autumn
and my winter
can hit rock bottom
with little solution in sight
but from this friction
battles are forgotten
when roses clash
and white rain blossoms...

The format really fits the theme of the piece.
It's peak and valleys speak for the relationship you paint. Great job

    Judging comment:
I loved Meena’s poem. It speaks so honestly about a classic ‘opposites attract’ relationship, where the differences between them ought to amount to more than the love they share. And yet, despite all the battles, people trying to come between them, and not believing their suitability for each other - this person is the one that can break down the barriers and create those unforgettable moments. The last two lines: “when roses clash and white rain blossoms” are perfect and sum up how the clashing of the ‘roses’ creates something even more special. The frankness of feelings displayed here is refreshing - there are no airs or graces about the things that cause them to clash and no apportioning of blame or declaring that one is more at fault that the other. It’s very real and that really appealed to me. Really well done! :-) x
