No Weapons To Be Wooed

by Domenico Sottile   Apr 19, 2018

As if on a beach the moon
I become cloaked by the vision
of a world so bold
that no weapon
would ever choose to hold
Without battles and wars
surviving in us only compassion
No one will need one hence
for self defense from others
cherishing of arms the disappearance

Australia already the example
to us had bestowed
on how without weapons
the insane murdering
they succeeded eliminating

These wishes of mine
for too long contemplated
and often written
still on this earth
have not been placated
leaving my heart all in pieces
However
you know and I know
never conquered it will remain
for I will never suffer such a shame

Many out of despair
supernatural forces invoke
discounting with discontent
that they alone
hopelessness can prevent

As on the desert nights
countless many a star
so be our hearts filled
with warm and bright
sparks of love now and far

As if on a beach the moon
that vision I still hold fast and soon
of profound love and compassion
and of no weapons to be wooed
