Yesterday

Running.
I remember running out of the house so fast that day that the sound of my feet hitting the pavement drowned out the chirping of the birds and songs of the insects in the woods.
My lungs burnt with every breath
I took but I kept running as fast as I could,
trying to get as far away from the house as possible before the
salty sweet tears in my eyes overflowed and poured down onto my cheeks.
And I remember falling hard
onto the pavement and scraping
my palms as the pavement tore at my already tattered jeans and-
the breeze didn’t feel so warm anymore as I sat in the middle of that back road,
My sobs the only thing I was able to get out of my chest.
I remember the pain of missing you even if I don’t feel it much any
more and I remember what it felt like to need you so bad when I knew I couldn’t have you,
To be physically free even though I never really felt it anywhere else but in your arms.
I remember all of those things even though they were years ago;
But just because they were years ago does not mean that some times your ghost doesn’t creep in and make it feel like it was yesterday.

    The best thing about your poems is that they are your personal experiences. They are not just some random imaginations. Sometimes you write about the good and sometimes the bad ones. It always feels so real to read your poems because most of the things you describe in your poems happens in our lives too.
