Outside Looking In (Part II)

by Bleu   May 5, 2018

The Window into "helpless" breaks and in comes the sun.
Another day has passed, another battle has been won.
You knew it all along, You told me I would be alright.
Grandma, I will never be the type to give up on my fight.

Now the rooms are empty, there are no more ties holding me down.
The walls have been demolished, in the place of a dark cloud, there is a crown.
Nothing is holding me back, there is no more reason for pain.
Because at the end of the day, self love, pride and confidence is what was gained.

Now, you can visit my thoughts.. You can see where the rooms use to be.
Just do not be shocked because you will not have the same view as me.
In their place you will see my growth, you will sense how far I have come.
There is now hope and happiness in the place I use to feel the most numb.

Carnations surround the area, reminding me that there is hope.
When I lose my way, I will look at them to remind me that not all burdens are mine to Tote.

Ithaca, I love this conclusion to part one. You fought to free yourself from the demons and you win day by day. It's not easy to let the light in sometimes when the dark is the more familiar place. Really well done, both the content, your strength and your poetic form of both pieces :-) x

I am so glad that you enjoyed this! This is honestly a part of a poem that was not even supposed to be written! I asked for poem request from some people on fb, had a woman message me about her struggle and LOVED part one.. But, wanted more. This is what we came up with together. She absolutely loves it.
