Evening Shade

My journey through life
Was longer than some
Shorter than others

Many prices were paid

It started with dreams
After facing the trials
I realized my druthers

I wish I’d been staid

Marriage betrayed me
Sadness consumed
My life was in a stutter

I found myself astray

Light came to my life late
My heart could have been burnt
And left in a flutter

But you became my “Evening Shade”
