Evening Shade

by Glenn Gay   May 12, 2018

My journey through life
Was longer than some
Shorter than others

Many prices were paid

It started with dreams
After facing the trials
I realized my druthers

I wish I’d been staid

Marriage betrayed me
Sadness consumed
My life was in a stutter

I found myself astray

Light came to my life late
My heart could have been burnt
And left in a flutter

But you became my “Evening Shade”

Thanks. It seems somewhat senseless unless you read it at the end of my novel. I appreciate it.

Awww, Glenn! Simple and just full of love. I felt it. I like the image of an evening shade too. I felt a deeper meaning in that.

Thank you. I tried something I have never done before, a poem within a poem.
