The Game

by CJ Maleney   May 16, 2018

If you're gonna play the game!
You must be prepared to lose.
I am not a player,
But I have skills and I have tools.

Choose your tactics wisely.
Don't overlook one single thing.
Get it wrong, make one mistake!
That's when you let me in.

The thing you think insignificant.
In your armor it's a chink.
A weakness to be exploited,
Like your failings held within.

If you wish to start a war,
Then I'll take it to the brink.
Just how much are you prepared to lose?
You need to stop and need to think!

There are times to play at games,
And there are times to draw a line.
But you messed it up so bad this time.

Pray your path never crosses mine!

A threatening write. I must say it is refreshing to read a dark poem. Through the verses you reveal an unmentioned weakness that will be exploited if they ever decide to play. This 'chink' presumably a truth to be used against them, something that would, undoubtedly, be the killing blow.
