Love Match

by Mark Rawlins   May 25, 2018

'He is quite a catch,' she thought,
as they stepped out on the court.
When he served, new balls, she volleyed
quite delightful.

Though she first enjoyed the sport,
for a tie-break she soon sought,
as their rallies had become quite fraught
and spiteful.

Game, set and match, they fought,
'til she told it to the court
that his backhands and his forearm smash
were frightful.

Tennis lessons have been taught ....
that 'love' always comes to nought,
and sometimes sport is really quite
insightful
