Amidst the darkest ashes grow
The strongest of the seeds
And deep within my chest there beats
Wings as my Phoenix sings

My body is the kindling
To nourish this new life
And from the ashes we will rise
And flourish in this strife

Tears of steam and blood that boils
My Phoenix fans the flames
Till all is dust and dirt and ash
And nothing but black remains

But as I said the strongest grow
In the darkest of environs
And here I stand with pen in hand
Basking in new horizons

I must say, this is superb. The meter and rhyme sound so good when read aloud.

I really must read more of your work. :)

Thanks Milly, I heard the first two lines a lot growing up in one form or another, "the darkest nights make the brightest stars" and such.
