Beware the serpents

by Em (marmite)   Jun 7, 2018

An image passes through
my weeping dark abyss;
a jester's face imprints
a sad filled mocking kiss

sepia horrors seemingly flow
how did I end up here?
unthread my mind, you'll see
my guilty, bloody tears

wondering what's beneath?
look deep within my soul -
this smile I wear: contagious
with a heart of blackened coal
