Blues Of An Old Singer

by Domenico Sottile   Jun 20, 2018

Crushed to discover
how I was
that Thomas Aquinas
of real peace
missed the meaning
when he thought
that by war making
peace can be brought
For I say
peace
is avoiding war at all cost
and getting along
is what we need the most
And yes
when fingers are pointing
it is a well known fact
every one feels
like wrecking

Shocked by
Aquinas thought
one night
I lost my sheet music
Neither could I find
how frantic
my vocal coach
nor my accompanist
was anywhere in sight

I found no device
to play the old tapes
That was not very nice
I felt displaced
and ready
to forget of living
my old ways

Then I realized
I was just dreaming
about a life of long time ago
It was mine
I had it
and then I let it go

When we cannot answer
at best
no longer all the “whys”
yes
it may be wise
to live for what comes next
the curiosity
and not succumb
to some odd insanity
