My world

by Rey Severs   Jun 26, 2018

You were my world,
And yet you crumbled,
A selfish beggar,
Ricocheted by the humble.

I gave, and did I ever give,
I gave all I could, but never could forgive,
The bruises you left, the fractures, the pain,
Innards still sore, taking your blame.

You were my world, and yet I still smile,
Although the tears flowed like the river Nile,
I'm happier, and it's odd, but my world had no space,
I don't miss the pain, but I miss your embrace.

Love is funny like that, a mind split in 2,
I overlooked the bad, until my skin was blue,
I miss the good times, although in the end rare,
You were my world. But for me you hardly cared.

So you can implode, explode, destruct and combust,
I'll miss you here, near and far,
I won't wipe a slate, though for you I must,
You were never worthy to be my world, you're merely an ugly, burnt out star.

So universal at the moment. How many women suffer silently? Thank you for being their voice.

I'm a man. It's not just women. I'm speaking for me. And ALL people who suffer domestic violence.

Well done with this. No matter how hard you love someone you wont change them. I'm so glad you aren't in this relationship anymore. Abusive relationships take on a warped quality until you start thinking you deserve it. This write really spoke of this. Stay strong, you deserve so much more than this. Hugs-
