Camellia Suzanne

by Larry Chamberlin   Jul 4, 2018

Beautiful heathen in the wild
you run the forest like a beast
leaves this poor old soul beguiled
in your laugh my ardor finds no peace;
don’t forsake me jungle child
sate our desires with my feast
my lust for you has been riled
fear that you have merely teased.

Take me into your hidden lair
we’ll spend the winter lying low
when comes the spring and fresher air
the world will see what we bestow:
our love will yield life so fair
from the cradle and to the bough
cheeks so pink they’re like a flair
her eyes as blue as lights that glow.

Winter comes and snow will soon be piled
slumber we’ll share and sleeping be released
our breath will slow, love reconciled
together an heir our life increased.
