Coming Home (For Dani)

by CJ Maleney   Jul 18, 2018

I traverse this island nation,
And I've traveled over seas.
I've seen many of the world's wonders
But now it's you who floats the breeze.

Now you're in a different nation,
For the first time when I'm not there.
I hope you're doing lots and lots of things
All those experiences to share.

You have heard of all my travels,
And you've shared in some of them too.
Some of them were amazing,
And some others were simply screwed!

I think we were born to travel,
For I think we both get itchy feet.
Not to be stuck, static in one place,
Trapped on some island reef.

Yet for every country that you see,
For every new and distant land.
You still miss what is left behind,
And you know that heartfelt pang.

So your final day approaches,
But I know inside! you're not alone.
My journey takes me northbound too,
And there are hugs to have back home.

An excellent piece well worth the nomination. Great rhyming and content and I can completely understand the sentiment as I am a hardened traveller too :) Milly x

Wouldn't say I'm hardened but I've kicked about the world a little bit

Cheers dude. She got home at 2 this morning tired but buzzing.

3 weeks and we're off to Rhodes. She's a jammy little bugger lol

11 years old and on her first trip to France with school. So jealous. I was 19 before I left these shores.
