Exposition

by Andrew Gonzalez   Aug 11, 2018

He keeps the cover on his face
Because the outcome of being torn apart
When he bleeds they tear more
When he cries they take his heart away

That feels like the ultimate gift
The cliché of feeling nothing being better than pain is the understatement
Truth deserves his pain for protecting
He hides because the only way to avoid hurt is to be alone
Not just alone
But lonely
Eventually he begins to confuse loneliness with happiness
Then who are we to judge what he feels
After all, don’t we all convince ourselves our normal is normal
