Under the Cover

by Andrew Gonzalez   Aug 11, 2018

Hurry, cover now before the door is opened
Find mask
Shouldn’t be very hard
You two are one in the same
Mask speaks in nothing but silence
Ah silence, the loudest cry
that can only be heard by the souls empty enough to contain such a volumed yell

By heartstrings plucked, played, and prodded
And by those whose scars and wounds wear their own mask of silence
Yet a different silence
Scars carry a silence within them
We don’t talk about our scars
We can hide them with our masks
But we cannot hide the haunting memories the carry
