August Screams (acrostic)

by Meena Krish   Aug 21, 2018

We are up

Against a storm which shows no mercy,
Unguarded happiness crushed to the
Ground leaving no room for memories,
United hands fail to grasp loved ones
Sailing away from their land
Torrents of tears punish the blameless as they

Sink to their knees,
Clouds of temper
Releases months of agony
Emptying all its vengeance,
Above all learned a lesson never
Mess with a mother whose children we
Slaughtered without sympathy!

    Judging comment:
Natural disasters are destructive in every way, and the poet brings us here a very clean and clear message: not to mess with mother earth, if she provides, she can take it all back too. A very raw, distressing, and emotional piece for me, and it brings us to think about everything done and everything need to be done. I hope all of us begin to understand this now more than ever.

I love acrostic poem when each line says something about the title. Miss Meena, you have captured the emotions of loved ones and mother nature in this one. Things will take time to settle for sure. We can't bring back our loved ones, but can make a new start by maintaining harmony between mother nature and us.

Petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid.

And remember, we are her children too.
