My biggest heartbreak

by Em (marmite)   Aug 29, 2018

my heart was in my mouth
waiting in that bathroom
as two blue lines appeared
anticipation rose in my stomach
when you arrived home
for I imagined my news
would make us happy -
how wrong was I?
it infuriated you like never before

weeks turned into months -
your favourite game was
pretend happy families
but behind closed doors
beatings worsened

you were ever so careful
never to get caught out

until that fateful night

when my precious gem
was taken too soon;

by you, his 'protector'

I could have forgiven everything
you instilled upon me
and within me

never that

for you've taken my life from me.

Em, congratulations seem misplaced for a write such as this, but you have them anyway, and my sympathy.

    All the best

Em, this is a shocking write. Is this based on previous personal events? X

    Like, but not for pleasure
This plucks on the heart's strings of any decent man currently or wishing to be a father, more importantly, a Dad.
Protector, a hero the last bastion of safety
