To sandbag is to temporarily defend against water, or to hide behind when in combat.
However, both my daughters wrestle for WAW, to sandbag in wrestling is to purposely make yourself heavy when your opponent tries to lift you (you are supposed to lift yourself, known as posting) this makes them look weak.
(when Hogan splashed Andre the giant, Andre did all the work, Hogan took all the credit)
