Let Beautiful Be

by D.   Nov 13, 2018

Let sleeping thoughts
fester, give them no credence,
not a semblance of a
chance.

Let loving arms embrace
you, let pointing fingers
quake, until bone
and brittle, until they
shatter and break;

Let her be the cause to
shake the sleep from your
pillow, let the mast run high,
let sails tear and billow;

Let tomorrow rise, let past set;
let yourself choose, question,
regret.

Let the man be handsome,
let gifts be gifts, let your enemies
be someone, let lost lovers
be kissed.

Let poetry rhyme with every
line, until the dictionary’s empty
and nothing’s inside, and let that
be a sign that language
has not barriers, but some
want to sing about what
plays on their mind-

Let them sing.

Let flowers grow,
bloom,
rot;
let beautiful
be left.

    This poem is mesmerizing, in all of my years on this site I don't think I have ever sat open mouthed while reading somebody's poem. With this one I did. It takes you on a journey away from this world and transports you into the authors mind for a fleeting few moments. This is as close to perfect that I have seen. An easy 10 points for me.
