A Tree Soaked with the Blues of the Skies

by Everlasting   Nov 15, 2018

Have skies been pouring cold upon my soul?
They rain and rain, with winds not weak nor strong
but I am shaking. I do not feel whole.
My leaves are falling. What did I do wrong?
No single bird comes visit anymore.
My trunk is withering. Am I now old?
My branches, big, that I used to adore
are covered up with obstinate green mold.
I’m also flooded with drops of regrets
and suns that used to warm me up with hopes
are cloudy memories I might forget
just like it happened to the nearby Oaks
because the skies with blues so pure and clear
can cause this feeling on an empathetic tree.

Maybe the tree needs some loght, so that the mold will dry and fall off and birds would nest on its big branches. The sky is not always coverd with clouds, the sun will come out, and warm this treed heart.

My heart ached for this tree! I love the personification and it actually reminded me of the feeling when I read "The Giving Tree" as a child.

The voice in this poem was strong and full of questions and life. Now I just want to give it a hug or maybe a visit so it feels less alone :)
