Fleeting

by Tanya Southey   Nov 27, 2018

We promised to
meet, a pact made
long before we
were born
when we were light
in the throws
of planning an
earthbound journey

We promised to
meet, a pact made
with love
long before
the movement of tides
fated us to drift
in different directions

We promised to
meet, a pact that
seemed bound to
be broken
and then
fleetingly we strolled
past each other
and smiled

Lifetimes relived
in a shy and gentle nod
