Images II

by Hellon   Dec 4, 2018

...until

the crack found its home
just on the edge - so fragile

and...

as the image
became divided
I wondered

who was the most frangible;
the crack, the mirror
or was it the reflection
perhaps?...

    judges comment
I was hankering for something a little different tonight while judging. This had it in spades. I loved images I, however I never got round to commenting. I'm happy I can do so with images II.
It grabbed my attention with line one. The confidence to open a poem with just a single word, one that is usually among a cluster of words kept me interested. Then you read through the whole thing and agree with the question, Who is? So you read again, smile and nod. This is pretty deep. Worth my 10 points.

    Reflection (consequences) for sure.

This would work better as one poem, simply as it’s a direct continuation - not a ‘spiritual sequel’ :) having said that, I did enjoy this query into the idea of perception!

    A Persian verse:
    A girl came across herself
    in the water:
    Beauty has multiplied.

I missed this poems predecessor, but having read the two together now I can say that this brilliant. Mirrors, broken or otherwise, have long been a symbol for self reflection in society.

I think the answer to the question posed in this instance is the mirror; to brittle to handle the reflection, and cracking from the strain. You Hellon, are anything but brittle.
