Who said long distance was easy

by Em (marmite)   Jan 13, 2019

Our morning calls
they start the day
in a very special
kinda way...

I imagine you kissing me
as you gaze into my eyes -
pulling me closer to you
as we leave for work,
uttering our love you; goodbyes.

The morning passes in a blur
without you far from my mind
because baby you're special,
to me, you're one of a kind.

Our lunch calls make lunching special
though they pass in the blink of an eye
and soon it's time for us to hang up,
but first comes our long goodbye.

As we return to work -
I imagine we've lunched together,
had a sneaky kiss and cuddle too
in any kind of weather.

The rest of the day passes slowly,
with simple "I love you" texts
and jesty little ones, arguing,
which one of us is the best.

Evening comes -
along with our goodnight call
one of the longest
of them all...

We get to speak about our day
as though snuggled up in the same room,
laughing and joking as loved ones do -
the end is near, I can feel its doom...

for it's an inside joke that I hate goodbyes
but the ones I say to you, I mostly despise
for when we talk I can imagine your touch
as you whisper "baby girl I love you so much"

Beautifully written Em and I know how this must feel. But true love knows no boundaries and will find a way to bring you two together.

I can't imagine, Em, and thank you for sharing this with us. I am one to believe that anything can work out and I never liked the skeptics and those who would automatically cringe or "make a face" when told it is a long distance relationship. I am so glad you have this person in your life, to keep you company during day and almost have that promise you will be together the next day... in some way. Even through that long night, that doom of goodbye.

Em, long distance is double edged. It makes a heart grow fonder, but it can also feel torturous, not being with the one who feels so much a part of you. I know of this pain. Just remember, there will be a time when you will live together. It will happen! x

Em, this is excellently done. You perfectly convey your daily struggles and hurt with the way you have to conduct your relationship with someone you clearly love.
My guess is it will all work out rather well if you care so deeply.

    Take care, Em
