Missing

by Michael   Jan 14, 2019

my space-
has become overgrown
with loneliness

I shuffle around
grazing on memories
that only fill me with tears.

without you here.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I remember a time when
around every corner
your loving arms greeted me;
wrapping me in warmth

at times you would surprise me;
forcing me back against the wall,

(to which I willingly surrendered)

smacking my face with kisses,
your lips would then close in-
and surround my ear.

your voice had a
tendency to quietly tease me.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
now-
every room I walk into;
each door I walk through;
any mirror I stare into-
holds but only a vacant
expression of you.

which ironically, is
better than nothing.

I feel shackled to emptiness-
devoid of your presence;
harboured in misery.

my heart is futile;
my life has become a hollow inventory,
where the elements of your love-

are missing.

    A very beautiful write, Michael. I loved the first part most - a stand-alone poem at least. :)
