Poetry And Tea

by Domenico Sottile   Jan 20, 2019

Isn’t it a difficult feat
to invite every one to tea?
For our love seat
only has room for you and me

The care to you bestowed
to the universe it is owed
The universe needs not
a love seat so grand
for ours
to such a large size
is due to expand

Forgive the exaggeration
but true harmony
has no limitation
Why hesitate to live
as if all were in love seats
and listen to the messages
of everybody’s heart beats?

I do not deny
I am enjoying respite
from when I was born
in a deeply confused world
by world wars torn
ammunition depots explosions
social unrests
of unimaginable visions
drugs and crime often
even close to our nests
violent acts
of terrific proportions
fatherless infancies
what terrible notions
for being detained
as prisoner of war
no matter what nations
no matter what star

No wonder I thus struggled
finding a place
in such an environment
so ill-propelled

I do not know how I managed
to complete a successful career
and still today
with no less fear
I am so sorry to say
I have given up trying to find
a place on this earth
to joyfully grind

And yes it is a shame
that nobody buys
poems anymore
and just the same
we can still expect
much sadness in store

In our love seat
I look at you
and perhaps I’ll forget
this insurmountable feat

I loved your message in this. To come from a war torn area and now in a relatively safe place and seeking peace with all of us, is beautiful.
