Falling Silent Within the Night

by Maple Tree   Jan 22, 2019

Growing limbs of comfort
falling silent within the night,
beneath blocks of unwritten memories.

Divided sidewalks, laced with marijuana
falling silent within the night,
euphoric rigidity consumes my senses

Flashing lights hypnotize
falling silent within the night,
as crows whistle cryptic melodies.

Police sirens echo
falling silent within the night
deep in the depths of darkness.

In the back of my mind
falling silent within the night,
whispers become a distant memory.

The falling silent in the night makes me think of the tears we cry at night when we think no one can hear us. Again, hugs xx

Andrea, I love how you repeated the one line in each stanza. It gave it almost a dreamlike essence to this. Falling asleep, or trying to with home movies playing in your head and the sounds of the night can make it difficult.

Night time can stretch, seemingly, lasting a year of night. In these long hours world's and minds are magnified. In slow motion our past, present and future merge and somehow making confusion clear.
