A fathers pledge. (Rondeau)

by Michael   Feb 3, 2019

fear not my child, for I have vowed
to guard your life, i’m duty bound.
A fathers oath, that I have sworn- -
each day that falls from dusk to dawn;
..in all the years, that come around.

upon this earth, you’ll walk the ground
i’ll be there when, your lost and found.
I made a pledge, that summer morn
To shelter you, from when first born
fear not my child...

my love and trust they will compound-
to form and keep you safe and sound.
We’ll sail the seas come rain and storm;
and through the cold, i’ll keep you warm.
..I shall not fail, to make you proud
fear not my child...

    This reads so calmly to me and your words are soothing. Sincerely written and emotional because I can't help but think of these "pledges" parents make, and the longing of a child to be sheltered and supported even through difficult times. I feel like as a child, I worried if I would face that rejection or sudden coldness as I grew and learned who I was becoming.
