Box of Crayons

by Maple Tree   Feb 4, 2019

Colors scatter down Lansing street
like a box of crayons; drowning in a gutter-
children dont know the value
until they have been brainwashed to hate them.

I see colors blend in with eighteen century brick
as humanity splatters upon the canvas of reality-

I wear rose colored glasses
reaching through cracks of cement,
saving hands covered with dirty messages
designed to corrupt the innocent.

What I choose to see in color
is what nature has shown since dawn of time;
to love and to be loved-
not to see them melt like tears.

just trying to save the crayons
one color at a time.

    It is not only the color of the crayon that we must teach and learn to appreciate, whether it’s broken, half of it used or not used; the shape of it is as important as the color I believe. :)

    Andrea, I love this! We teach kids to hate, to see the difference in another as something wrong instead of celebrating their differences. If more of us would just accept and teach our children this what a beautiful world this would be. Hugs you-
