When Snowflakes Fall

by Mortal Utopia   Feb 9, 2019

Sometimes, snowflakes fall
like memories:
so I try to gather them all
when their sounds and lights,
veiled in white,
move close to the wind and sea.

And when remembrances haunt me
in dreams that fray
like whispers, your light always stays
(it still shines like snow and rain)
in my slumber – to ponder and fade
into the sun again. Just like Silence,
you always gave light to the world
with your two eyes closed.

Yesterday, I had another dream:
I saw you open your eyes to smile and beam
like sunlight weaving through snow
and clouds and sorrow -
for you saw, finally, how the world shone
in winter.
