My Recovery

by Chris Cole   Feb 12, 2019

I took myself for granted,
I'm luck to still be standing.
I'm lucky I found reasons,
I did drugs for 56 seasons.
Maybe I should let my wounds heal,
Before my life gets killed.
People called me a screw up,
But now I no longer need a re up.
God finally got attention,
I finally feel so gifted.
He's been good to me,
God gave me eyes to see.
Might need you to hold me down,
Kinda need my woman right now.
I got a headache from the pain I feel,
But I really don't need another pill.
Really that's the cause of my pain,
Thought it would help me, but I lost more than I gained.
On the inside I'm colder than death,
I been counting all the blessings that I have left.
On the outside you can't see the bad,
Deep down I'm really sad.
Thank God for rehab,
Right now it's the best thing that I have.
Other than my son way back home,
Makes me hurt inside, cause I know he hates when daddy's gone.
Every night on the phone,
I tell him "son don't worry, don't cry, daddy's coming home".
But I know I gotta stay clean,
So I can be a better man then what my son has seen.
Yeah, I know it hurts him to see me like this,
All the time I missed with him, just makes me pissed.
Soon I know, to you, that this ain't fair,
"But baby boy don't worry cause daddy will be there".
"And son please do daddy a favor and don't go down the same road that daddy did",
I would really die inside if I lost my kid.
This is so crazy,
My life is so wavy.
That's why I'm going to make it better now,
No matter the problem I'm never backing down.
I'ma go back to my town,
I can't wait to see my son now.
I'm gonna wear the crown.
I hear my recovery, I love that sounds,
I feel good right now.
I'm clean and sober now.
Now I wake up every morning just to say, "WOW".
Thank y'all and if all y'all are with me, then everybody say "YES TO RECOVERY NOW".

"Yes to Recovery" You should be very proud of yourself. Addiction in any form is a difficult nut to crack. Every day spent sharing your life with your son will be worth it. Take care. Best wishes Milly x
