Whispers from Prison

by Maple Tree   Feb 12, 2019

To hear from her
explodes a thousand stars
within this Mother's soul;
a starburst upon a cold winter.

Knowing she suffers
in prison has made me grow weary,
a million tree tears cant erase the sadness
I feel, and yet she manages to whisper-

"I love you Mom"

    "A million tree tears cant erase the sadness" your visuals ate heartbreakingly beautiful with a glow of light in that no matter what the heartbreak caused a daughter always knows that no matter what she does.. good or bad that her mother will love her and in that final line her mother knows she is loved back.. warm hugs Milly x

    Another achingly beautiful poem, Andrea. Stark and direct imagery. I feel in such a short piece, the use of ‘cold’ twice could be amended but I feel language is less planned when there’s more pain behind it.

    A Mother's love is priceless. It breaks my heart just to read this. What all we have to endure and our love is undying. Letting go at times is the best. Stay strong and hugs to you.
