Fly Away

by Maple Tree   Feb 19, 2019

Upon a crystallized morn
you were born unto me,
eyes of almond beauty
a blessing for all to see.

Laughter filled your cheeks
as sand blew in your hair,
watched you bathe in sunlight
with a happy little stare.

You grew under a limb
as wings began to form
a beautiful bird, light and free
chasing life as it began to storm.

As you walked a path with thunder
I held onto your childhood
flying far, far away
a free bird of spirit, simply misunderstood

O no do not fly away. Come near, sit on our branches, sing for us, warm us on the woodstove of your beauty.
