That night..

by Michael   Feb 26, 2019

..we nestled on a carpet
of rich green grass

summer spent the evening with us,
breathing romance into our lungs
and filling our hearts
with warmth

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

that night-
everything felt unconditional;
palpable in texture
the only words we spoke were
in kisses

the moon dressed
you in a veil of white
and in the shadow, I
in a black silhouette suit.

the tree we sat beneath, cracked open-
buds earlier that season

the invisible hands of the wind
gently ruffled blossom
from branches petals fell softly;
like pink confetti

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

that night-
the stars turned out
and twinkled in a beautiful
silence

as if they’d gave their
blessing

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

that night-

felt like a marriage
made in nature.
