You're Mistaken

Why did you say those things to me?
Why did you give me hope?
Why didn't you just walk away?
Face it, you didn't cope.

You thought I'd leave you standing,
If I found a truer path.
You panicked, thinking you'd lost me,
God, how hard did you laugh?

You let me think you meant them;
All those lies you made so pretty.
You thought I'd crack because your smile
Makes my heart quick, And flitty.

You didn't have to lead me on,
And yet, that's what you did.
You gave my dreams a second chance,
But then you closed the lid!

You gave me thoughts and promises,
And I was upside down,
Because my world revolved so fast
Round you; round and around!

So what, you changed your mind one day?
You promised me forever.
You let me hold my breath, and run
Towards your fools gold treasure.

How hard I've fallen this time!
And the ground is not forgiving.
How can I carry on now, when
Without you, I'm not living!?
