Eyes Of Dew

by Larry Chamberlin   Mar 22, 2019

The mists of our time apart never seem
to clear more than a waterfall of sadness
yet my desire to be with you prevails
despite daily resentment, nightly madness.

Should I be careful of drowning in self-pity
without assurance of your breath of life
the strokes that would draw you near
would make succumbing worth the strife.

But I’m strong enough to tread deep water
this separation is not always gloomy
so carry out your safe ministrations
I’ll be fine until you return to me.

A really heartfelt, touching write, Larry. I sense a lot of emotion in these words. The second stanza is the highlight.

This is such a sweet poem. It's is difficult to part with loved ones and you described it perfectly. I like the flow and rhyme of the poem too. Great write! :)
