The last goodbye

by -Choke-On-MY-Halo-   Apr 2, 2019

In the shadows lingers
a figure whom embraces
the sleeping woman tenderly,
carressing her brunnet
locks gently, even while his
fingertips go through
them at times.

She always dreamed of
him coming back to
hold her one more time.
Telling her that as her king
she'd always be by his side

He hadn't meant to leave her
alone, didn't like when she wailed
into her pillow at nights and
then smiled in the light all the
while saying "I'm fine"

How could they be so close yet so far apart?

She always wore her ruby lipstick
now. He always loved red on her
and he had been her one desire
in life. Smiling bitterly she looked
into the mirror and wondered
what he would think of her now.

Later that night he kissed her
pale naked lips and knew that
this time was the last time he'd
be able to viist her as he had
wasted the last of his strength
to stay so with shaking breathe
he whispered into her ear
"I love you my queen"
