Flowers that Bloom in Memory (pantoum)

by Larry Chamberlin   Apr 5, 2019

In your peach sundress wander this field of daisies
always remember our fine April afternoon
larks swoop overhead and sing aloud
the breeze tousles your hair in fine wisps.

Always remember our fine April afternoon
step back to the time when the sun shone
the breeze tousled your hair in fine wisps
we fell in love more than I thought possible.

Step back to the time when the sun shone
we were children in our lives together then
we fell in love more than we thought possible
in peach sundress wander this field of daisies.

[Note: Originally from Malaysia, the modern pantoum is a poem of any length, composed of four-line stanzas in which the second and fourth lines of each stanza serve as the first and third lines of the next stanza. The last line of a pantoum is often the same as the first.]
