Broken Love

by Walter   Apr 7, 2019

I'm going to fix this bracelet
The one I bought for you
The one you would proudly wear
When once you loved me too

But it's no longer wanted
I hold the pieces in my hand
From when you tore it off your wrist
In a fight we never planned

Broken links can be mended
As I bend them back to shape
One by one they're joined together
No matter how long it might take

It's starting to look beautiful
As they attach from end to end
But I know that it’s still damaged
The last link I cannot mend

Because this is the bracelet’s latch
And for this I will need your wrist
All the time I've taken to repair it
It remains broken while you resist

The latch will never close
As long as we're apart
The love that it symbolizes
Only works with both our hearts

How honoured that I once felt
To see you wear it everyday
On you it looked like it belonged
But now broken it will stay

Oh my goodness this made my eyes water at how much that bracelet symbolises your love and that it needs 2 people to continue the link
