The River

by CJ Maleney   Apr 8, 2019

When you come across a bridge,
That will traverse a river or a stream,
If you decide not to cross it!
What exactly does that mean?

It means you seek adventure,
And non conformity.
It means you seek release
And a desire to be free.

There are bridges that we must cross in life.
Because the river will always wind,
But if you do not cross the bridge!
You may find something else inside.

The river always finds its course.
And it always finds the sea.
It's part of the environment
And just like it, so are we.

You can follow it for miles and miles.
And still you will not sleep.
But when time eventually runs out for you,
Those memories you'll keep.

You see! it's not about the river.
Not about a journey you can plan.
It's all about being yourself,
And being the best you can.

Some will float downstream.
And take the easy line!
Some will push against the flow,

And this is how you are defined.

Craig, another excellent piece from you which isn't just pretty rhyming as rhyming sometimes is, but thoughtful and well told too.
    Excellent!

    All the best as ever,

      Thanks dude

I kinda feel this one rambles a bit and it kinda ran away from me but I popped it up anyway

It was inspired by a walk in the woods with my daughter and my dogs. We could follow the river which would be easy or go through the woods. Eventually, after about an hours treck up up and down, slip and slide the woods come back to the river. At this point we had a choice. Cross the bridge or turn left and follow a little stream.

We didn't follow the stream for long, but so glad we did, despite it being a little tricky underfoot.

I'll try to upload a pic to my profile of what we found

      regards as always
