Save me from me

by Victoria Ramey   Apr 16, 2019

Staring at the sun,
Floating out to sea,
Cant escape the rough,
Undertow of me,
Waves of uncertainty,
Crash down over me,
I'm drowning in this swell,
Of forgotten identity,

Someone come find me (save me from me)
Someone hold out a hand (save me from me)
Someone pull me to shore (save me from me)
I don't want to go...
Someone come find me (save me from me)
Someone hold out a hand (save me from me)
Someone pull me to shore (save me from me)

Water fills my lungs,
Its growing hard to breathe,
The sun is fading down,
As the nightmares catch up to me,
(Someone save me from me)
My bones are growing tired,
My eyelids close to sleep,
My blood is running cold,
If only you could see...

Someone come find me (save me from me)
Someone hold out a hand (save me from me)
Someone pull me to shore (save me from me)
I don't want to go...
Someone come find me (save me from me)
Someone hold out a hand (save me from me)
Someone pull me to shore (save me from me)

Staring at the sun,
Floating out to sea,
Cant escape the rough,
Undertow of me,
Waves of uncertainty,
Crash down over me,
I'm drowning in this swell,
Of forgotten identity...

Less a scream and more a whimper this poems seems to me. One can't help but be pulled along with it. Very well done.
